Commitment

Being a Volunteer Firefighter requires a great deal of commitment. We train on the first four Mondays of every month and are expected to be on call when in town and available.

We respond to a multitude of calls both within the village and surrounding county. Additionally we regularly work with both Linden and Carbon Fire Departments for mutual aid and during training.

Some of the more common calls we respond to are:

  • Structure Fires

  • Grass/Bale Fires

  • Vehicle Fires

  • Motor Vehicle Collisions

  • Medical First Response

  • Downed Power Lines

  • Gas Leaks

  • Fire Alarms

Applying

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please pick up an application package from the Village Office.  Previous experience is always nice to have, but is most certainly not a requirement.

Certified training is provided when available and will include:

  • Health Care Provider First Aid/CPR

  • AED

  • Q (Air Brake) Endorsement

  • Fire Fighter Training

  • Traffic Control

  • Professional Driver Improvement

  • Recent Resume with a Cover Letter

Requirements for application include:

  • Must currently reside in the Village of Acme or within a reasonable distance from the fire hall. (no applications from outside of the Acme Fire service area or outside of the county will be accepted)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must be able to achieve the minimum attendance requirements

  • Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of being a Firefighter

  • Must be able and willing to be a team player
