2025 Municipal Election
Information for Voters
The next general municipal election will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025. Polling stations will open at 10 a.m. and will be open until 8 p.m.
This page will be updated frequently over the coming months with important information regarding changes to the Local Authority Elections Act that impact you as a voter in the 2025 Municipal Election.
In 2025, the Village of Acme will establish an Electors Register based on the provincial voter's registry. There will be a way to check online if you are on the registry and instructions on how to be added to the registry if you are not. Find out more in the Who Can Vote section below.
How to Vote
Permanent Electors Registry
To be added to the Village of Acme's Permanent Electors Registry, please access VoterLink or contact the Returning Officer.
AT THE POLLING STATION
If you are already named on the Permanent Electors Register, you must provide one piece of Government-issued photo ID, including your full name, current address, and photo.
*Please note that another elector can no longer vouch for your identity, you must be able to produce an acceptable form of identification.
If you are not already named on the Permanent Electors Registry, you must:

Make a statement confirming your eligibility to vote, in the prescribed form; and

Validate your identity and address of your residence by producing one (1) of the following:

one piece of Government-issued photo ID, including your full name, current address, and photo;

one piece of identification authorized under the Election Act (s. 100(2)(b)) that establishes your name and current address of residence.

A more detailed list of these authorized identifications will be provided closer to Election Day.
For identification that only contains a mailing address (i.e. PO Box):

If you registered to vote at your current physical address, you do not need to provide additional identification and can use your Driver’s License or Identification Card which contains your current mailing address.

If you are not registered to vote or need to register at a new physical address and your driver's license or motor vehicle operator’s license is issued by the Government of Alberta, you do not need to provide additional identification.

If you are not registered to vote or need to register at a new physical address and do not have a driver's license or motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Government of Alberta, you will need additional identification to prove your physical address (i.e. legal land description, lot-block-plan, and/or 911 address) prior to voting.
Vouching

Another Elector is only permitted to vouch for someone's address, not their identity.
